Curtis is the co-founder and CEO of Global Esports Ventures, an investment firm that is the majority shareholder in Guild Esports. Sorensen is the co-founder of Northzone, a venture capital firm that is also an investor in Guild Esports. Beckham is a retired professional footballer who played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and the England national team.

Guild Esports signed its first professional esports player in November 2019, signing a Rocket League team. The team consists of David "Deevo" Morrow, Jos "ViolentPanda" van Meurs, and Yanis "Alpha54" Champenois. The organization also signed a FIFA player, Kieran "Kez" Brown, in December 2019.

In January 2020, Guild Esports announced the signing of a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team. The team consists of Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas, Justin "jks" Savage, Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt, and Andrei "arT" Piovezan.
